Daylily season

May is daylily season in my garden and now that the month is winding down, many of them are in their glory. Don't ask me their names - they are lost in the mists of history or in my chaotic garden records.

    1. Each blossom only lasts a day - thus, DAYlily. But each plant has multiple buds that can bloom over a period of weeks.

    1. I love iris, too. I'm hoping my butterfly iris will give me another good season of blooms this year as it did last year.

  3. Beautiful! My Mini Pearl is getting ready to bloom. Seems like I just place this order and now they are going to bloom. I ordered from Oakes, the company Susan Brownmiller used for her daylilies on her balcony in NY. Oakes has an amazing selection and I was very pleased with each plant (HUGE).

    1. 'Mini Pearl' - gotta love that name! I've never ordered from Oakes, but thanks for the heads-up. I'll add them to my list.

  6. Lovely, Dorothy! I also used to have detailed maps with all the names but time disrupts all that, so I don't remember many names either. Here it is iris, rose, and rhododendron season, only the Lemon lilies are blooming, at least I always know what they are. The daylilies should start soon.

    1. Sloppy record-keeping is the bane of my gardening experience, but I enjoy the blooms even when I don't know their names.

Your blog was such an incredible help to me! Knowing that I have reliable sources to draw from is immensely comforting. Then, you suggested some excellent possibilities for plants which actually work in lower light conditions – and it changed everything!

If anyone reading this is also looking for great flowers, I highly recommend checking out Merrilily Gardens. They have a fantastic selection of daylillies for every kind of garden, and their customer service is top-notch.

And if you're in the Woodstock area, definitely get in touch with them about bulk daylilies. I recently ordered a bunch for my own garden, and they're absolutely stunning!

Thanks again for all the great content you share here. I'm looking forward to your next post!
